Let's Explore 8 Incredible Benefits of Nutritional Gardening:

By growing your fruits and vegetables, you have direct control over the quality of the produce. Say goodbye to pesticides and hello to fresh, nutrient-dense foods that will nourish your body.

Gardening is not just about growing food; it's also a form of physical exercise. Digging, planting, and weeding are all activities that contribute to keeping you active and fit. Maryland Primary Health Physicials states that gardening is a lot like other moderate to strenuous exercises, like walking or biking. It gets all your major muscles working—legs, butt, arms, shoulders, neck, back, and abs. Plus, it's great for building strength and burning calories.

There's something therapeutic about getting your hands dirty in the soil and watching your garden flourish. Gardening is known to reduce stress levels and promote overall well-being. Mayo Health Clinic Health Systems believes gardening as a form of exercise can lighten moods and lower levels of stress and anxiety. So why not get out there after a strenuous day at the office and get lost in the garden pulling weeds, or tending to your plants. You just might realize that its a calming ritual you can do everyday, and might even start to crave the effects it gives you.

By growing your food, you contribute to sustainability efforts and reduce your carbon footprint. I have written about this before, but when you are shopping in the grocery strore,do you ever thing about what that tomato had to go through to get to you? Most of the time they are picked prematurely, and shipped across the nation to get to you. Wouldn't you feel a bit of ease knowing that you had to travel a few steps out to your garden to get one that is rippened on the vine. It's a rewarding feeling to know that you're making a positive impact on the environment.

Save money on grocery bills by growing your produce. I dont know about you, but for me a trip to the grocery store had taken a toll on my wallet, but it is a great relief knowing that I have eliminated some of that stress by growing most of my vegetables, herbs and some of my fruits right outside. Once you've set up your garden, the ongoing costs are minimal, and the returns in terms of fresh, organic food are priceless.

In today's fast-paced world, it's essential to reconnect with nature. Gardening allows you to slow down, appreciate the natural world, and foster a deeper connection with the environment. We all could use some down time, and what better place to enjoy this down time than in your beautiful garden that you have designed and created. There is something amazing that occurs when you acutally slow down and embrase nature with all of you senses. I still have a hard time doing this, there are times when my brain just doesnt want to stop, but finding refuge in your garden can help. This is so very improtant to your overall health and often one of the most common overlooked areas in wellness.

For those new to gardening, this journey provides a valuable learning opportunity. Understanding the growing process, plant care, and sustainable practices can be incredibly empowering. I have had many clients that never started because they just didn't know where to begin, and after the first season of growing, when they are able to nurture their plants in their garden and that plant provides them with their first fruits to harvest, they are so elated and have such a feeling of triumph. This is so rewarding and from there the garden and the knowledge of caring for their health and their garden develops. It's truly an amazing experience.

Joining the ranks of fellow gardeners opens up a whole new world of community and camaraderie. Sharing tips, produce, and experiences with like-minded individuals can be enriching. I have developed a GSL Group for this purpose, I love hearing from other gardeners about their successes and their struggles. We are all full of knowldege in our own way and that knowledge is better when shared.
