Cheese Sauce Made Simple
Hey, we all love cheese, right? But let's be real, it doesn't always love us back. Many folks deal with some level of lactose intolerance, and cheese can mess with our hormones and cause other health issues. But hey, cheese just makes everything taste amazing, doesn't it? I hear you! Since switching to a plant-based diet, I don't indulge in cheese as much. But when I do, I've got this simple, fat-free cheese sauce recipe that's my go-to.
Now, let me tell you, it's not going to taste like your Velveeta cheese, but it definitely satisfies my cheese cravings when they hit.
I use this cheese for various dishes such as mac and cheese, grilled cheese sandwiches, and even in my broccoli and cheese soup. Additionally, I enjoy dipping my chips in it!
Your List of Ingredients
2 cup chopped potatoes
1 cup chopped carrots
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 tsp garlic powder
1/4 cup nutritional yeast (this makes the cheesy flavor)
1 tsp lemon juice
salt to taste
Step 1: Let’s Get Started
Simply place the potatoes, carrots, and onions in a pot with water and bring it to a boil. Let them cook until tender, then transfer them to a blender along with 1/2 cup of water (retain the remaining liquid for later use). Add your spices and blend until creamy, adding extra water to reach your desired consistency.
Enjoy
