In this blog post, we'll go through four easy steps to organize and clean your greenhouse. From saying goodbye to pests to arranging shelves for maximum sunlight, these steps will make your greenhouse a perfect home for your plants. So, grab your gardening gear, and let's get your greenhouse ready for some serious planting fun!
Getting the Greenhouse ready!
Are you a procrastinator? I am really bad about it on certain things. One of them is when it is time to organize and sanatize a greenhouse, I usually wait until the temperatures are crazy cold and the snow is flying before I get busy and get the greenhouse ready for planting. Not this year, I was on the ball and got it ready to go, Im so proud of myself!!
So what steps should you take? Below I go through the 4 simple steps to get the greenhouse in check and ready for your little plant babies.
Step 1
Get everything out of there!
During the summer season and when I spend most of my time in the garden and out of the greenhouse I use the greenhouse as a catch all, and I mean it catches everything that I dont want in my yard!! So the very first thing that you need to do is get it all taken out. It is much easier to start with a clean slate.
Step 2
Inventory and dispose
This step is pretty self explanatory. You first need to inventory and inspect your equipment. Because I store most of my pots, flats, and trays in the greenhouse they do deteriorate more quickly, due to the extreme temps in the summer. But because I am spacey challenged I do not have another option. I will inspect my containers and if they are brittle or warped or broken I dispose of them. Then I do an inventory to see if anything needs to be reordered.
Step 3
Sanitize and clean up
Sanitation is crucial for disease free plants. You not only need to disinfect and sanitize your containers but I feel it is best to also clean up and sanitize the inside you your greenhouse. There are commercial products that you can use to do this but I just use a bleach solution at a 9:1 ratio for everything. This will drastically cut down on the pest and disease that might develop with your growing experience.
Step 4:
Get it organized
There is nothing more irritating than being all excited to plant and you can't find your tools and equipments needed to get started. This is why I include this step because your time is important and when you have everything put in its place things will just run so much smoother.
