Wellness Trends: Do What Feels Right for You (No Need to Try It All!)

Writer: Nikki GreenNikki Green

Wellness trends seem to be everywhere lately—cold plunges, saunas, and even quirky new fitness classes. It’s exciting to see all these ideas popping up, each promising to boost your health in unique ways. While it’s fun to explore and try something new, the truth is, you don’t need to jump on every trend to live a healthy life. What really matters is finding what works for you. That’s why I guide my clients using the 8 pillars of wellness—a foundation I’ve built through my educational training I acquired from Nutritious Life to help you create habits that actually stick and support your overall well-being.

Section 1: What Are Wellness Trends?

Wellness trends are those buzzworthy practices you’ve probably seen all over social media—think cold plunges, infrared saunas, meditation apps, or even the latest “superfood” craze. They’re gaining popularity thanks to influencers, exciting new research, and the promise of quick health benefits. And while many of these trends can offer real perks, they aren’t a one-size-fits-all solution. What works wonders for one person might not feel right for someone else—and that’s totally okay! It’s all about discovering what truly supports your health and happiness.

Section 2: The Benefits of Popular Wellness Trends

Wellness trends often come with big promises, and some of them do have great benefits! For example:

  • Cold Plunges: Many people swear by cold plunges for reducing inflammation, boosting circulation, and even lifting their mood. Plus, there’s something energizing

  • about that icy shock!

  • Saunas: Saunas are known for promoting relaxation, improving skin health, and helping with circulation. They’re like a mini retreat for your body and mind.

  • Meditation & Mindfulness: These practices can be powerful tools for reducing stress, improving focus, and supporting overall mental well-being. A few quiet minutes a day can make a big difference.

  • Other Trends: From intermittent fasting and cryotherapy to plant-based eating, there’s no shortage of ideas to try. Each one offers its own potential perks.

While these trends can be helpful, it’s important to remember they’re just one piece of the puzzle. True wellness is about building habits that support your long-term health—not chasing every new idea that comes along. Find what works for you and let it fit naturally into your life.

Section 3: Why Not All Trends Are for Everyone

Wellness isn’t one-size-fits-all—it’s personal and should reflect your unique needs and preferences. Just because a trend is popular doesn’t mean it’s the right fit for you, and that’s okay! The key is listening to your body and doing what feels good, not forcing yourself into something just because it’s “in.”

For example, I once tried intermittent fasting because everyone was raving about it. But instead of feeling energized, I found myself tired, cranky, and distracted. It just didn’t work for my schedule or my body’s needs. So, I let it go and focused on balanced meals that worked better for me.

The takeaway? You don’t have to follow every wellness trend to be healthy. Instead, find a balance that feels natural and supports your well-being in a sustainable way. After all, wellness is about making your life better, not more stressful!

Section 4: Building a Solid Foundation with the 8 Pillars of Wellness

While wellness trends can be fun to explore, true health comes from having a strong, well-rounded foundation. That’s where the 8 pillars of wellness come in. These pillars, developed by Keri Glassman at Nutritious Life, work together to support your overall health and help you build sustainable habits for life.

Here’s a quick look at the 8 pillars:

  1. Drink Up

  2. Eat Empowered

  3. Sweat Often

  4. Stress Less

  5. Love More

  6. Sleep Deep

  7. Live Consciously

  8. Nurture Yourself

These principles guide my work with clients, helping them prioritize their well-being in a way that’s simple, balanced, and effective. Remember, wellness trends can be a fun addition to your health journey, but they’re just the extras—your foundation is what truly matters!

Section 5: Finding What Works for You

Wellness is all about discovering what makes you feel your best, and that often means experimenting with different trends to see what clicks. The key is to have fun with it and listen to your body—if something doesn’t feel right, it’s perfectly okay to let it go.

Remember, wellness isn’t a race; it’s a lifelong journey of balance and consistency. You don’t have to dive in headfirst. Start small and try things in a low-pressure way. Maybe book a single sauna session, dip your toes (literally!) into a short cold plunge, or try five minutes of meditation to see how it feels.

And here’s the thing: even if you decide a particular trend isn’t for you, you’re still making progress. Each step—whether it’s trying something new or deciding it’s not your style—is part of building a routine that works for you. Wellness is about finding your own groove, not fitting into someone else’s.

Building Your Wellness, Your Way

Wellness trends can be exciting to explore, but they’re not the ultimate key to health and happiness. True wellness starts with a solid foundation—like the 8 pillars of wellness—because lasting health comes from balance, consistency, and habits that truly work for you.

As you move forward on your wellness journey, focus on the habits you’re ready to commit to for the long term. Let the trends be a fun bonus that adds variety, but don’t feel pressured to try it all.

Remember, wellness is about you. Only you can decide what feels right and aligns with your unique needs. Trust yourself, embrace the process, and enjoy building a lifestyle that nourishes your body, mind, and soul!
